MFM FC Knocked Out of CAF Champions League
Nigerian Professional Football League club side MFM FC haven been knockout of the CAF Champions League in humiliating fashion by Algerian based MC Alger, got back to winning ways in a hard fought victory against Kastina United.
The game played at the newly renovated Agege Stadium in Lagos started the way it ended in Algeria when MFM FC went a goal down in the 37th minute. It however need be said that the Lagos side dominated but could not get it right in front of goal.
After the break, coach of MFM FC Fidelis Ilechukwu made two changes which proved decisive and evidently changed the course and eventual outcome of the match.
Chijioke Akuneto came on for Akinyemi, while Abiodun gave way for Waheed Akanni. Those set of substitutions yielded instant result as it took Akuneto only three minutes to get himself on the score sheet when he converted a well taken free kick. He made it two for MFM FC in the 67th minute lashing onto a pass from Chukwuka Onuwa.
Speaking after the game Fidelis Ilechukwu said "it has not been easy as was envisaged combining CAF Champions league games with NPFL matches because our team lack squad indebtedness".
Next stop for the Olukoya boys would be a midweek trip to Aba were they face two time CAF Champions League champion Eyimba.
