Lobis Stars, Heartland FC, Shooting Stars, MFM FC crash out

The 2018 AITEO Cup came with a good dose of “cupsets” as Lobi Stars and Heartland FC were knocked out of the competition in the round of 64.

Lobi Stars, Nigeria’s representative to the 2018/19 CAF Champions League, lost via penalties to Standard FC after they played out a 1-1 draw. Heartland FC, bottom of the 2018 NPFL table, were knocked out by Confine FC of Akwa Ibom. The Naze Millionaires fell behind in the 17^th minute before grabbing an equalizer in the 40^th minute. The Owerri based side lost 4-2 on penalties.

Akwa United and Rivers United went haywire as they thrashed their opponents 7-0 and 6-0 respectively. There was no hope for Hope of Glory FC of Cross-River as Akwa Ibom ran over the non-NPFL side. Aniekeme Asuquo scored a hat-trick while Victor Mboama and Ezekiel Bassey grabbed a brace each.

Bernard Ovoke scored 4 as Rivers United ran over Gusau Eleven 6-0. Frederick Obomate opened the scoring in the 7^th minute before Ovoke scored 4 before the half time. Malachi Ohawume wrapped up scoring in the 90^th minute.
